It's been 30 years since the first Ibis was born in Mendocino, California. A lot has changed for Ibis since then, but one constant has been their unwavering desire to build the finest, most innovative bicycles on the planet. Since their rebirth, Ibis has really pushed the limits of carbon fiber frame design, and the Silk SL is the result of those efforts in the road segment.
At its core the Silk SL Ultegra complete bike is high modulus carbon fiber, right down to the carbon headcups. This results in a frame-only weight of about 2.2 lbs for a 58cm. Stiffness is not sacrificed though - you get the responsiveness of large diameter aluminum, but with the suppleness of a titanium frame. This yields a complete bike that is ideal for a road race or century bike - yet also at home in a crit.
The way the bike coddles the rider feels like I'm cheating. It takes the sting out of the road.

Your new Silk includes free professional assembly by Jenson USA, and will arrive carefully packed in nearly ready to ride condition. It will take you about 30 minutes to unpack, install the front wheel, set saddle height, and adjust the handlebar to your preferences before you're ready to hit the trail.
